Modern in the Past

Leonardo Da Vinci was a tue Renaissance man, because he was not taught in the was of the Roman or Greek. Da Vinci was self educated by observing the world around him, which is really the point of the Renaissance. Da Vinci was the most advanced man in that era, due to the fact that he had thought and invented inventions that didn't even came into existence three centuries later.
